Health Care Debaucle

This push for heath care reform that is in such a hurry doesn't make sense because the bill that is passed will not take effect until 2013. Obama wants it passed so he can move on to his next take over.
Health care accounts for 1/5 of the economy so it makes sense to pay attention to the economics of the claims. Obama wants to "save costs". however, if we study the Canadian or UK systems or ever the soviet union socialist systems some basic economic situations arrive.
There is always a cost to price. Why are the prices high and the offers low. One reason is that Competition has been restricted. That is the way of socialist government. They never look at the market, always for a government solution. Analysis of the Soviet Union economic systems show that planned economy always raises costs and cause disincentives for efficiencies in the system. What does this have to do with the US. and especially with health care. We are having issues because we interfere with the private market and competition. If we were to suddenly pass the lifting of the ban from crossing state lines the competition will increase. More products will be offered. Like Automotive insurance, higher premiums can be charged for pre-existing conditions. If we chose to not have a co-pay for wellness visits we should see a decrease in cost.
Another shot for competition is to start paying the health care outside employment. Then health care would be independent of employment and no issues with pre-existing conditions we often run into when we change jobs. We can buy health care insurance just like automotive insurance and get paid more reflective of the health care benefit.
Tort Reform is important for cost control and to eliminate the awful costs associated with lawsuits such as the lady who won a huge award for spilling hot coffee on her lap and didn't have a warning about the coffee being hot. Tort reform needs to be done but is a separate issue.
So what proposals does this conservative bring to the table.
1: Remove all restrictions on health care companies over state lines.
2: Remove restrictions to people purchasing own insurance. Encourage this behavior rather then provided by companies. The main exception to this would be Tricare for Military. This is part of the thank you we give to career military personal.
3: Tort reform to return the prudent and reasonable man. A prudent and reasonable man would know coffee is hot by definition.

We should ignore profits Profits allow the company to build reserves and encourage growth. Profits are not evil.

I have paid a great deal of attention to the health care debate in this country and am surprised that one aspect has not been voiced. I have read the constitution several times and have not yet found any evidence that there is a constitutional power given to the federal government to enact health care in any shape or from. This likely means that not only is the current health care bills currently under consideration are unconstitutional, but Medicare, Medicaid, and Social Security are as well. I have several points with regard to this discussion.
1: There are 17 specific powers provided to the federal government. These include the ability to raise armed forces, regulate interstate commerce (meaning states are not allowed to raise tariffs against other states), ability to tax, and go after piracy.
2: Congress cannot go outside the constitution when it wants. It is interesting that the ACLU attacked Christianity when they want to eliminate it, but are silent about other unconstitutional activity
3: Health care, Social Security, Medicare and Medicaid are outside the constitution under any provision.
4: Congress blurring lines between business and government. This is called corporatism. This is a precursor to Fascism.
5: Cap and trade is a bill that pits western US with desert/sun for solar and huge hydro electric (not necessarily green but no carbon credit)
6: No Tort reform. I just read about a lady who won 2 million because a dentist removed 13 teeth when she was to remove 3. Cost to fix mistake is $88,000.00. Clear case of out of line award. This is why our costs are high. This will raise Malpractice insurance.
7: Insurance is just that. Insurance is spreading of risk. Privately, not through Government.

What is the solution. Here is my solution.
1: Privatize Social Security. Work out a way to pay back the amount owed SS by the government. Work out plans for SS to allow options of investment.
2: Privatize Medicare and Medicaid. The Government may need to support but allow private companies run it.
3: Initiate Tort Reform. This would have the effect to bring awards back in line.
4: Allow Health care insurance to be offered across state lines. This will go a long way to increasing competition and reduce cost.
5: Discuss ways to cover previous conditions. Sometimes previous conditions are covered in situations where one is moving from one company to another. So it real problem is coming from non coverage to coverage. This may not be as big a problem as thought. Has anyone thought to ask the insurance companies.
6: Cut taxes since we move the costs to private companies.
Cutting taxes may mean that we will resend the cap and tax, stimulus bills. But cutting taxes may create a full recovery.

This is my solution. It is a totally private solution and doesn't involve the government at all. After all, the government has no constitutional mandate to solve health care.
And that is that.

President Obama has really stirred the people this time. Health care bills in both the house and the senate appear to be pre-disposed toward single payer system. President Obama has stated that no one is going to force a change in your coverage and carrier. However careful reading of the bills before congress now state that you will not be able to purchase new insurance and when anything changes in the policy, you will be forced to move to the government plan.
Also, President Obama is correct that the bills do not mention Abortion. What they don't say is unless specifically excluded, any procedure will be covered. That means that every hospital will have to provide abortions to anyone who wants one. If they refuse, they will not be permitted to receive anyone under the government coverage. Since in a single payer system, the government is the only game in town, this means the hospital will either cave in or go out of business.
The figure of 45 million people who are not covered has been used by all government people who are proposing this bill. It seems to me that the issue is not necessarily a health care issue, rather it is a jobs issue. The huge loss of jobs in this country has had a huge impact on coverage as laid off people lose their health care.
So what can we do?
The republicans should next month make the following proposals.
  • Stop trying to make only one bill to fix everything
  • Remove state barriers to offering health care. Allows up to 1600 health care companies to bid for your business.
  • Tort reform to limit awards will limit excessive tests
  • Remember what insurance is: spreading risk. Encourage competition
  • With regard to pre-existing conditions: Encourage coverage with perhaps higher copay or higher cost additional coverage.
Present this as unified republicans. This will not only correct perceptions that Republications is the party of NO, but help set up wins for the republicans in the next election.

These bills must be stopped. We need to reverse the trend to Socialism and Fascism.

So Obama wants you to send disinformation emails to the white house for them to take care of. This smacks of the Nazi watchers in Germany during the Nazi regime. This is an outrage. We shouldn't allow this to happen. This is an invasion of our right to express our selves with out government interference. Further, how do they know if the information isn't accurate. They haven't read the bill in either the house or the senate. This shows how community organizers work. Protest and action is OK and approved so long as it supports what the community organizer wants, as in Acorn or SEIU. When conservatives protest, the liberals cry foul and want it stopped. Interesting isn't it.
I have been reading a book by Jonah Goldberg called Liberal Fascism. He takes us back to the beginning of the progressive movement. I have several observations about the new Obama administration in view of the history of liberal thought. If you compare the Classical Liberalism (meaning liberty and the formation of the constitution) to Progressive thought, you will notice an incompatibility between the two. Our constitution and our founding fathers envision a small federal government with the purpose to facilitate interstate commerce, protect our borders from invasion, and protect our interests internationally. All the rest of the governmental actions were to be conducted within the states or by individuals. In fact, the tenth amendment states the unless the action is specifically mentioned in the constitution, it resides in the states or individual. Progressives are opposed to individual states or personal rights or actions because they believe that the STATE (not individual states but the federal government) has the divine right to exist and the STATE is to act as a parent to a child. The individual will not know what is right for him and the state must take care. In order to do this, it means that all power must reside in the state. In the early 20Th century, Progressives, Fascists, and Communists all were still very much in vogue. Hitler and Mussolini were of like minds in so far as the all power resides in the state. In this the American Progressives were in total agreement. The Europeans had one advantage in that they didn't have the constitution to deal with. In fact the constitution has been a stumbling block all along for the progressives. The constitution provides power to the individual and the progressive/liberal wants the power focused in the government. Control is the key. March forward to now and the Obama administration. He has moved all the power away from the Cabinet positions which need senate approval to "Czars" which he appoints. Therefore the power becomes focused in the President with not check or balances. We now have over 40 Czars with power focusing more and more on the President.

This is wrong and contrary to the intent of the framers. But the liberals have been trying for the last 100 years to move away from the constitution and concentrate the power to the president. Next we will see neighbor watching neighbor. Oh, wait, we have that now as well.

We need to be careful. Very careful. The country is at stake.

Today I read in the paper a piece about Senator Kennedy and his "tireless" work for universal health care. The problem with this is the assumption that health care is a right. When Senator Kennedy states that the Citizens of the United States have a right to Health Care provided by the government he is assuming rights and powers not given in the constitution. I have read both the Declaration of Independence and the Constitution of the US and cannot find anywhere any explicit declaration of Federal right to health care. The closest I have found is the unalienable rights as Life, Liberty, and the pursuit of happiness. All these rights revolve around the idea that the individual is responsible for his activities. He has the right to pursue happiness, not the absolute right to happiness. He has the right to his life and liberty, not to be infringed by the Government. In other words the government cannot dictate to the individual unless and except where specifically stated in the constitution.
The founding fathers believed strongly in individual and states rights. They wanted a government that intruded as little as possible in the daily lives of the citizens. We now have a group of individuals who do not believe this. They have reversed the roles and now believe the government is responsible for all citizens for everything, and the individual citizen has the right that the government will take care of them. Of course, some one will need to make the important decisions and that is the Liberal Progressive who has only the people at heart.
The problem with this belief is that it violates not only the spirit of the law, but the words of the law. We have a judicial system that places itself above congress. We have a congress that believes that the Federal Government has a maternal right to take care of the poor citizens. Of course the successful will need to be taxed to do this.
We have a situation where the current administration wants the 5% most richest to care for the 95% who are "owed" this care.
The bills before congress are placing the force of law to this idea. The Federal government will force the whole US onto the single payer system and not only reduce coverage for all, but specifically almost eliminate access to specialist for the elderly. President Obama has stated that no one is forcing anyone to change their coverage. This is true - but only true during the grace period. After the grace period is over, all will be forced to move to son of Medicare. And we will not like the coverage. We will then have a coverage system just like Canada and UK. And their long care coverage is not good.

This is just one area that the liberals have assumed powers that don't exist in the Government. Read the constitution and look where Education is a power given to the Federals. It isn't. The supreme court issued a ruling that provided the power. Not congress, the supreme court. More on this later.

We need to be careful, we need to be very careful. The left wing extremists are our in droves spreading misinformation and deflection. They are putting ads on TV that are making it appear that the benevolent government, who is just looking out for you, wants to step in and save you money, that it wants to put the big bad wolfs in sheep clothing corporations out of business. It turns out though that the big bad wolf in sheep clothing corporations are really left wing supporters and the bills in congress are really designed to keep them in business. This is really the fascist way. They love business as long as they get to control it. What they really don't like is small business which they really can't control. They attempt it by minimum wage. Michigan Democrats for example want to raise the minimum wage to $10.00 per hour. That would put small business's in Michigan out of business, the ones that survived the recession. What a plan. A State that has the highest unemployment in the nation wants to raise minimum wage to the point that it will force more unemployment. Small business owners employ the majority of people in the US. Further, it is in the minority groups that stand to be hurt the worse by unemployment when small business gets hurt. Unemployment over all is 9.5%. Unemployment in Michigan is 17%, unemployment among teenagers is 25%. Unemployment among Black youth is as high as 45%. It seems to be that we need to do everything in our power to encourage small business, that we need to get out of the way and let the economy truly recover and make this country strong. Instead we want to become a nanny state with costs out of control and poor service in everything. Obama's plan, rather then helping the country, will seek to destroy it. The economy will recover, indeed it already has started, not I think to anything the government has done. It is recovering in spite of the government. The recovery however will be slow, painful and weak. I fear inflation, high deficits, and the government sapping the GNP when we need the money in business hands to fund the recovery. Remember this next year during House and Senate elections. Vote out the left Wing extremists. Replace them with right wing Extremists who will look out for the individuals, and build a strong America again.
VOTE.
